Favil ("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile application designed for couples to strengthen their relationship through daily questions, mood tracking, shared memories, and interactive games. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency and care.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using Favil, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Name (display name you choose)
• Email address
• Password (hashed and salted, never stored in plain text)
• Gender (optional, used for period tracking features)
• Profile avatar (emoji or uploaded photo)

Relationship Data

• Couple pairing information (partner link via invite code)
• Relationship start date (if provided)
• Daily question answers and reactions
• Couple statistics (streaks, points)

Mood and Wellness Data

• Daily mood ratings (1-5 scale)
• Mood feelings (emoji-based selections)
• Partner mood guesses
• Period tracking data (cycle dates), only if you opt in

Media and Content

• Photos uploaded as memories (stored in our secure database or optionally in your own Google Drive)
• Memory titles, descriptions, and dates
• Bucket list items and game answers

Technical Data

• Push notification tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
• Device platform (iOS or Android)
• App version

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information exclusively to provide and improve the Favil experience:

• Core functionality: Delivering daily questions, syncing data between partners, tracking moods and memories, and running games
• Notifications: Sending push notifications about partner activities, daily question reminders, and streak alerts (via Firebase Cloud Messaging)
• Partner syncing: Sharing relevant data with your linked partner (e.g., question answers, mood entries, memories marked as shared)
• Product improvement: Understanding feature usage patterns to improve the app (aggregated and anonymized only)

We do NOT:

• Sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party
• Use your data for advertising or ad targeting
• Share your data with data brokers
• Use your relationship data, mood data, or intimate content for any purpose beyond providing the app's features

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase, which runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. We implement the following security measures:

• Encryption at rest: All data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption
• Encryption in transit: All data transfers use TLS/HTTPS
• Row-Level Security (RLS): Database policies ensure you can only access your own couple's data
• Password security: Passwords are hashed using bcrypt via Supabase Auth
• No plain-text secrets: API keys, tokens, and credentials are stored securely and never exposed client-side

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Supabase (database, authentication, real-time sync) — Privacy Policy
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications only; we do not use Firebase Analytics or Firestore) — Privacy Policy
• Google Drive (optional photo backup to your own Google account; only activated if you explicitly connect it) — Privacy Policy
• RevenueCat (subscription management) — Privacy Policy

5. Google Drive Integration

If you choose to connect Google Drive, Favil will:

• Create a dedicated "Favil" folder in your Google Drive
• Upload memory photos to this folder in your own Google account
• Only access the specific folder it creates (limited scope)
• Never read, modify, or delete any other files in your Drive

This integration is entirely optional. You can disconnect Google Drive at any time from the app settings, and your photos will remain in your Google Drive under your control.

6. Data Sharing With Your Partner

Favil is a couples app, and certain data is shared with your linked partner by design:

• Daily question answers (after both partners have answered)
• Mood entries (day score and mood guesses)
• Shared memories (those not marked as private)
• Game answers and results
• Bucket list items
• Love button taps

Private memories remain visible only to you. Period tracking data is only visible to the person who enabled it.

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: You can view all your data within the app
• Export: You can export all your couple data (memories, answers, mood entries) as a downloadable archive from the app settings
• Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from the app settings. This action is irreversible
• Correction: You can update your profile information at any time
• Portability: Your exported data is provided in standard formats (JSON, with photos as original files)

If you delete your account, we will permanently delete all your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for product improvement purposes.

8. Data Retention

• Active accounts: Data is retained for as long as your account is active
• Deleted accounts: All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Notifications: Automatically deleted after 30 days
• Push tokens: Removed when you sign out or delete your account

9. Children's Privacy

Favil is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

10. Compliance

GDPR (EU/EEA users): We process your data based on your consent (provided when you create an account) and our legitimate interest in providing the app's services. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

Information Technology Act, 2000 (India): We comply with the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. Sensitive personal data (passwords, health data including period tracking) is collected with your explicit consent and protected with reasonable security practices.

Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India): We process personal data only for the purposes consented to, provide access and erasure rights, and implement appropriate security safeguards.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via the app or email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
